Demo Privacy Policy

This notice is to inform you that one or several Snips demo devices being used in a meeting may record your personal data (including your voice). Should you not wish the demo to be recorded, please inform the Snips representative conducting the demo, who will let you know if it is possible to turn off the recording function prior to the demo.

How does Snips collect and use data recorded during demos?

Because demos don’t always go as planned, Snips finds it useful to log people interactions with the demos. Snips uses the recorded data exclusively for quality analysis of the demo session, and to improve the Snips voice recognition software as a result.

This may involve recording your voice only in the following cases:

  • if you interact with the demo device in the context of wake word detection (which may involve recording short snippets of sound before and after the wake word is pronounced), and if you make a query; or

  • in some cases, your voice may also be recorded even if you do not interact with the device directly (e.g. if you are speaking in the background while someone uses a demo, or if the wake word is triggered by mistake.

The legal basis for this processing is Snips’ legitimate interest in obtaining technical data about the performance of its software, specifically at the experimentation/demo stage, in order to detect bugs or issues and improve its software, products and services accordingly.

All logs and recordings are considered confidential information and protected against unauthorized disclosure on our secured servers.

Who may voice recordings be shared with?

Snips demo devices are equipped with an app which saves the demo logs on the device. The demo logs are later retrieved by the Snips machine learning team for the above-mentioned purpose. The voice recordings may be reviewed manually by members of the Snips machine learning team.

Snips will store any recorded data for no longer than is necessary for the purpose outlined above (for instance, for the period during which the product is being developed and marketed), or the retention period required by law, whichever is longest, and for the applicable statute of limitations period thereafter.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, and to give us instructions on how to handle your personal data in the event of your death.
